Happy new Year and Glory to God for His Faithfulness all through 2014……..
December was so tight for me and my crew but thank God I finally get to share with you what it was like. My apologies for the prolonged silence.
Just before any wedding in Kenya, its tradition to visit the girl’s home and make a payment called ‘dowry’. Its very Traditional, NO Invoices, NO Quotations, NO delivery notes. … you have to go down the village and do the negotiations in person. Hmmmm… it’s never easy……
I met Njeri and Pato, They are the crayyziest people to be with. They know each other like the details of a sweet story. They can make a joke, laugh and leave you hanging…or…make a joke, not laugh and leave you laughing. well..the later makes you feel like a dummy. They are amazing.
So Nyeri we went. Take some time and lets walk through this African/Kenyan/Kikuyu love story together.
Dress number 1…for the day.Dress 2..On the other side, calls were made not to find people unprepared…The traditional “NO ENTRY” sign…..She had it all sorted……:-)One of Njeris brother...The visitors were finally at the gate. As usual, they had to knock the door with some African tunes…She heard the Noises...Call this the 1st battle field… Patricks Mums had to explain why they were late…its usually a very melodious battle…Then a ‘key’ had to open the lock!welcome.....Friends and family….Don’t be mistaken, This was the real deal. “Mukimo” the Kikuyu Traditional meal was served for everyone…On the other hidden side…...shhhh…..don’t say aaaawww!...Okay, just so you know, I also have dimples… ………………………………………………………I have them nowhere. Is she laughing at me??… yes I have dimples...The BIG puzzle. Ladies of Njeris size come covered. Pato has to see through the covered girls coz there is no time for mistakes!… tik, tok, tik, tok….ha ha ha.. Spects don’t lie, Pato trying to be sure he was seeing well….tik, tok, tik, tok,.tiktoktiktoktik…:-)“”That was close”” eeh!!This is where I wish photos had sound. She came to explain why she was late for the event…. It sounded so sweet!…“Something to wipe the bottles of soda”Coca-cola should know how important sodas are at an African wedding….10Million, going once, going twice… GONE! :-)In the meantime…...........Wonderful people will always have real Support..a “please don’t go” photo of Njeris Cousins...Lets call it a day! byebye!
I thank The Almighty God for Pato and Njeri. Lets all drop them a congratulatory message on this post as we ask them the big question… “WHEN IS THE WEDDING?” haha!
